Ballygawley will come alive this June as it hosts the return of the Tyrone Fleadh, a four-day celebration of traditional Irish music, song, dance and culture, forming part of a wider week-long programme of events.
Organised by Clogher Valley Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ) in partnership with Comhaltas Thír Eoghain, this year’s Fleadh is particularly special as it marks the 50th anniversary of the local CCÉ branch.
Having last taken place in Ballygawley ten years ago, the festival’s return is highly anticipated, with a full programme planned for competitors, performers and visitors alike.
The Fleadh will feature a strong line-up of competitions across music, singing and dancing, with successful participants progressing to the Ulster Fleadh and Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann.
Alongside the competitions, visitors can enjoy a lively schedule of céilís, parades and traditional music sessions throughout the town, creating a vibrant and welcoming festival atmosphere.
The event also provides an important platform for celebrating and preserving local culture and heritage, bringing the community together while welcoming visitors from across the region.
Adding to the celebrations, the McKenna family — a talented local group of sibling musicians — will launch their new album during the festival.
