Curator Tour: Ulster Emigration and Black History

Delve into the marginalised histories of enslaved people of African descent. We’ll finish the tour at the Rogan House, one of our most important exhibit buildings and home of the Rogan family who developed a Tennessee plantation after emigrating from Co. Tyrone. According to census records, 71 people were enslaved by the Rogan family. Hear their story and see outlines of the types of cabins in which they would have lived. Explore how Ulster settlers became enmeshed in a web of trade, with slavery at its centre.
