Trace your family’s genealogy, learn about your ancestors and bring the past to life. If you’ve always wondered about your roots, it’s time to mix research and pleasure and come to your ancestral homeland for some heritage digging.
Immerse yourself in the story of Irish immigration on a self-guided tour at the Ulster American Folk Park, Omagh.
The Mellon Centre for Migration Studies, based at the Ulster American Folk Park, is a research library which collects material relating to the history of the people of Ireland worldwide. Their extensive resources include the world’s leading specialist collection of books on Irish migration history and the Irish Emigration Database, which contains over 33,000 primary source documents that are free-text searchable. Passenger lists and emigrant letters are particularly popular with visitors for searching, perhaps in a bid to find an ancestor named among them.
