Christmas at the Ulster American Folk Park

Discover the magic of a traditional Christmas at Ulster American Folk Park.

Wander through the wintry, cobbled streets of Ulster decorated for the festive season, from the humble surroundings of a single-room cabin to the indulgent Christmas of the Campbell House.

Meet Mrs Mellon and taste traditional Christmas cake, enjoy the festive sounds of brass bands, and take a horse and carriage ride around the Folk Park (if weather allows).

Festive family fun

Children can get hands-on with festive crafts, play with wooden toys, follow the Christmas bauble trail and write a letter to Father Christmas. There are marshmallows to toast, popcorn chains to make, and a festive sleigh – perfect for a family photo.

Visit Mrs Claus’ Bakery for warmed apple punch and mince pies, or pick up a special decoration from the Christmas pop-up shop. Look out for Captain Mummer’s lively performance, celebrating one of the oldest Christmas traditions of rural Ulster.

Christmas in America

Stroll down American Street as it comes alive with festive cheer. Enjoy the smells, flavours and decorations that shaped the modern holiday season and find out how European settlers influenced Christmas. Don’t forget to stop by Maker Café for hot chocolate and festive treats, and pick up last-minute gifts in the shop!

  • Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th December
  • Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th December
  • Friday 19th, Saturday 20th & Sunday 21st December

While our full Christmas activity won’t be happening on weekdays, the Folk Park will be decorated for the festive season from 6th December until 2nd January.  On weekdays, you can still learn about Christmas traditions, write your letter to Father Christmas, follow the Children’s Bauble Trail, see a traditional Christmas card display and taste Christmas cake.

Weekday tickets during December will just be through our general admission ticket link.

Christmas Opening Hours at the Folk Park

We’re closed Tuesday 23rd December through to Friday 26th December. We’ll reopen on Saturday 27th December and normal opening hours will resume from this date.  We’re open on New Year’s Eve (31st Dec) and New Year’s Day (1st Jan).

Please note: General Admission Christmas does not include Visit Father Christmas and his Elves. Tickets for this separate experience must be booked here.
