Easter at the Ulster American Folk Park

Discover what a traditional Easter would have been like centuries ago in Ulster and America…

There’ll be horse and wagon rides for you to enjoy, tasty traditional food to try and willow weaving demonstrations! Listen to traditional music, watch our magic show on the ship and stop at our photo selfie station. You can take part in our craft demonstrations, meet our street characters and swing by our storytelling sessions. There will also be a special Easter trail for the kids to follow.

Visiting on the 10th April? There’ll also be Irish dancers performing in the Park on Easter Monday!

Two bedroom cottage, all on ground floor. Both bedrooms have a king and single bed, one room has a wet room shower ensuite and the second has a bathroom. Bed linen and towels provided. Spacious kitchen/living/dining area with fully equipped kitchen with cooking utensils and crockery. The cottage is oil central heatedand has an additional log burning stove with starter pack provided, additional logs can be purchased on site. Patio doors opening into garden with barbeque area.

Spar Omagh Half Marathon

Omagh Half Marathon was started in 1989 by a small group of Omagh Harriers. The race has grown to be one of the largest Half Marathons in Northern Ireland. In 2019 the race had over 2500 Half competitors.  The Half marathon has a committee of 9 people and a race day crew or over 200 volunteers!!!

The 2023 event will be bigger than ever.  Our move to Sunday racing will give us room to grow further in the coming years.

Aimed at students and small groups who have an interest in the Second World War or who are currently learning about the subject in school. The ‘War talk’ is free but bookings are limited. Step back in time to the dark days of World War Two and experience a unique collection of artefacts and stories.

Omagh Sperrins Walking Festival

This year’s Festival is one of the first in the 2023 calendar of Walking events- so get the boots dusted off!

Choose from the walk options below to plan your outdoor weekend. Please choose a grade and length of walk that suits your experience and interest.

Saturday Moderate Walk  ‘Migration & the Muintir Looney’- The Robber’s Table & Gortin Lakes 7km

Saturday Challenging Walk:
‘Spirits in the Glens- a living Geology’ Mullaghcarn 12k

Sunday Moderate Walk: ‘The Ecology of the Mourne Valley’- Tattynure to Bessy Bell 9km

Sunday Challenging Walk:
‘Written in Stone- the vernacular landscape’
Sloughan Glen & Bollaght Mt 12km

This Walking Weekend is kindly supported by Fermanagh Omagh District Council and the Sperrins Partnership

 

Important information about the walking tour:

  • Please note no dogs are permitted on all walks due to farm animals being in close proximity to routes.
  • Please arrive on time and come prepared for your choice of Walk. Where relevant a bus will be provided to transport you to and from your walk route and we ask you to leave your car at registration.
  • If you have not already done so online, you will be asked to complete  Participant form on arrival by Far and Wild staff which will included consents for First Aid treatment etc

For Challenging and Moderate Walks please bring/wear:

  • Hiking boots; appropriate outdoor clothing; rainwear; packed lunch; sufficient water. Gaiters and walking poles are optional but advised.

For Easy Walks please bring:

  • Footwear that can handle uneven terrain; rainwear; packed lunch; sufficient water

Refreshments will be served after the walks. Please stay around afterwards for some music and craic at the venue/s.

Market on Main Street Omagh

Artisan market takes place on the first Saturday of every month outside Rue and The Ostlers on Main Street, Omagh. Local crafts, food and giftware.

 

Meadows Camping Field

Nestled close to the beautiful market village of Gortin, at the foot of the Sperrin mountains. The Meadows is a wonderful hideaway campsite.
