Paddle Board Yoga at the Gortin Lakes

Enjoy a 4 week block of learning to find your inner Zen.

You don’t have to be amazing at yoga or paddle boarding, if you’ve ever wanted to give it a go this is the class for you .. Paddle boarding and yoga are so relaxing and you’ll learn so much.. But we also have a laugh..

Running for 4 weeks, beginning on 7 June 2023.

Canine Carnival at Gortin Glen Forest Park

Friends of the Glens canine carnival will open in Gortin Glen Forest Park Co Tyrone this Sunday 11th June at 2pm meeting at the forest cafe Brie’s Barista Bar when a Tyrone guide dog group hosts a day of fun and fundraising.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children, as Penny (the Guide Dog’s mascot) will be in attendance, and the day will be peppered with spot prizes for the dogs that turn out in the best fancy dress.

Entertainment will also be provided post-walk by Sleight Delay.

All walkers are asked to be outside Brie’s Barista Bar for 2pm to register. Any and all donations will be gladly welcomed and they will go directly to the charity.

Gortin Family Fun Day

We are excited to announce the date of our Family Fun Day for Gortin Community Centre. It is to be held on Saturday June 24th, in the community grounds around the community garden.
You are advised to bring a picnic and mat with you, to relax in the glorious, sunny weather that we are predicting for the day 😉
We will be launching our new Eco-Hub area and showcasing Camp Killew, the woodland area we’ve been developing since last Summer.
Come and see the children’s artwork that they will be contributing in some upcoming shared education projects.
There’ll be something to do for the whole family, including a mobile fun farm, a chance to meet some alpacas, the launch of our new Stick Man trail and an opportunity for younger children to be read the story from our 6 metre bell-tent. There’ll be nature-based activities hosted by Express the Best, Gortin Well-Being Collective and Fermanagh and Omagh District Council Biodiversity Dept.. We’ll have music, face painting, a plant sale hosted by Gortin Community Garden, fun and games on the MUGA pitch and pizza, cooked in our new cob (mud and sand), pizza oven.

GET WET STAY SAFE SESSION @ LOUGHMACRORY (OPEN WATER SWIMMING)

These sessions focus on:

– Safe practice when using the water

– Provide information of the effects of cold water

– Provide basic safety messages relating to your sport and water usage

Swim Ulster in partnership with Swim Ireland, Sport NI and Loughmacrory Community Association, are delivering free sessions on safe open water swimming. These sessions have been developed to ensure that as we approach the summer months when use of the water is at its highest, that water users are well-informed and can safely use the natural environment to enjoy their specific sports.

A Free Get Wet Stay Safe Swim Cap and Tow Bag will be issued to those who attend. (only one swim cap and tow bag will be issued).

The wearing of wetsuits is not mandatory, but if you have one we would recommend that you wear it as water temperatures rearly get above 16c

These sessions are for adults only (18+) as they are specific safety training, and are not suitable for anyone under 18.

GET WET STAY SAFE SESSION @ GORTIN LAKES (SUP & SIT-ON-TOP KAYAKING)

GET WET Stay Safe Session for Open Water Swimming @ Gortin Lakes. Helping you to learn how to enjoy the water safely!

These sessions focus on:

– Safe practice when using the water

– Provide information of the effects of cold water

– Provide basic safety messages relating to your sport and water usage

Sport NI are returning with another series of free Watersports Safety Sessions under the GET WET Stay Safe project across Northern Ireland from May – September.

We are running 2 sessions on this date; you can attend either a specific SUP or Sit-On-Top Kayaking course during any session, you indicate which you are attending by your ticket.

We are running the first session from 10am until 12pm, and 1pm until 3pm. You can attend a course on SUP or Sit-On-Top Kayaking. Each course is 2 hours in length.

We can supply equipment for you at the training or you are very welcome to bring your own. If you do require equipment, it is important that we know what you need, so please answer the question relating to equipment when registering. These sessions are primarily intended for Stand-Up Paddleboarders and Sit-On-Top Kayakers. All our tutors are fully qualified and are accredited by the Canoe Association of Northern Ireland. These sessions are for adults only (18+) as they are specific safety training, and are not suitable for anyone under 18.

The Teddy Bears Picnic at Grange Park

Celebrating 90 Years since the release of Omagh born Jimmy Kennedy’s song “The Teddy Bears Picnic”, Grange Park will be enjoyed by families, their teddy’s, music, story telling, teddy bear and biodiversity trails and more.

Gather round and give three cheers for Reverend Judith. She is receiving the Citizen of the Year Award for her amazing work with the food bank. Come congratulate her and hear how it all started with Frank and his dad, Gilbert. Gilbert is a bit of a local celebrity. He was no other than the legendary ‘King of the Track’, Gilbert the Great. That was until a tragic accident put a stop to his track-racing days. Driven to desperate measures in order to provide for his son, he agrees to become a get-away driver for the local baddies.

Heartbreak Productions return to Fermanagh for the 3rd year running for this warm-hearted tale that follows the highs and lows of a father-son relationship. An open-air adaptation of David Walliams Bad Dad is the perfect summer family entertainment. So, pack your picnics, grab your wet weather gear or sun-cream (or both), something to sit on, and join Frank and Gilbert as they navigate their way through car chases and convicts in the struggle to escape the clutches of the local crime lord and clear Gilbert’s name.

A Night With The Country Stars 2023

Get the stetsons at the ready folks as back by popular demand ” A Night With the Country Stars” returns for another night of toe-tapping magic that features 5 of Irelands top performers all on one super show. The fabulous line-up will include the supreme vocalist from Sligo Patrick Feeney, the wee man from Drumlish Declan Nerney, the popular John McNicholl, the wee man from Strabane Hugo Duncan and the Yodelling maestro Kenny Archer who each will perform their trademark hits in the company of top backing band Keltic Storm. This is a rare chance to see this super array of acts all on one stage and one thing is for sure if its Country Music you like, then this is the only show in Town.

The Summer Country with the Stars Show 2023

Fleetwood Dreams (Fleetwood Mac Tribute)

The History tour, a walk through time

This guided tour is based at the ‘ Abingdon Collection’ near Omagh and offers a glimpse into the forty year period between 1940 and 1980 and the changes that occurred in social history. With over 7500 items on display this tour is always popular with all age groups.

Omagh Show 2023

Tyrone Farming Society looks forward to its 181st Annual Omagh Show, which will take place on Friday 30th June (Equestrian Only) and all events on Saturday 1st July 2023
Each year Omagh Show goes from strength to strength. Records indicate that it was first established in 1832, in an effort to encourage and sustain local agriculture. Omagh Show’s enduring success can perhaps best be described as a true reflection of determinatiuon and motivation of its supporters throughout the years. Now ideally located on a prime site on the outskirts of Omagh town, this thriving Annual Show remains a source of much pride for its community
